Our group of 6 took a New England cruise and booked a tour through Viator to get a history lesson in Boston and the surrounds. We take private tours because my brother is a paraplegic so we must have a suitable vehicle for him and his wheelchair.

We booked well in advance and were so looking forward to visiting the Freedom Trail Sites and the battlefields of Lexington and Concord.

We called on the morning of the tour to confirm pick up at the pier and were told that they did not have a tour guide for us. We were so upset, Boston is very busy at this time of year and getting a guide last minute on Columbus day seemed impossible.

We called our travel agent for guidance and by some miracle she got in touch with a local tour company who somehow managed to get us not only a guide but also a handicapped accessible vehicle!! We had to wait for about 2 hours but it was so well worth it in the end. Do not gamble on viator as they will book without any assurance that they can provide services and then pull the rug out last minute.

We used Boston Private Tours in the end and they were magnificent! Just a little plug as they so deserve it, do yourself a favor no matter where you travel and use the smaller local companies who truly care about their customers and quality control!

We are still trying to get our money back from Viator!

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Monetary Loss: $900.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

Location: Boston, Massachusetts
